This study reminds me of a paper I read as an undergrad antho major - “Body Ritual of the Nacirema.” Or, another one titled “The Sacred Rac.” (Note: Nacirema is American spelled backwards and Rac is Car.) The teacher who assigned both of these papers as homework did not do the big reveal until we were in class, such a powerful tool to highlight assumptions. As someone who now works in academia - I whole heartedly applaud all papers like this and wish there were more!
