Actually really loved the book Modern Romance, which first got me thinking about this topic (how people used to "find love" vs. how they do now). Picked it up just for fun and found it to be surprisingly well-researched.
Loved this one! Seeing how closely the increase in βwe met in a barβ matches βmet online,β my hunch is that there is still, for some, stigma attached to dating apps.
Yes great point! I'd be curious to know more about the overlap, too - i.e., how many people who "met online" also indicated that they "met in a bar" if that was their first in-person meeting. Really interesting!
I met my husband online in 2012 using OK Cupid which was the main dating site of that time. (Tinder had not taken off yet) When I tell the story I say that OK Cupid did a great job matching us, that it really figured out what I was looking for in a partner and presented me with good profiles to choose from. Of course it canβt predict chemistry, but it was there for us, and I feel grateful to the website. My husband on the other hand just thinks it was dumb luck. I should mention that he works in tech, specifically as a programmer for a search team in media, so his take is probably more accurate. π©βπ»β€οΈπ¨βπ»
I like your take better!!! :)

And aww, I loved hearing about your meet-cute(s).
I will need to check it out!! :)
As someone who also met my husband before online dating, I found this so interesting!
